Trip to Britain & Ireland,
June & July 2002
Each of the links
below will bring up a page of thumbnail pictures; clicking on one of the thumbnails
will bring up a brigger version of that picture. There are nearly 400 pictures
here - you don't have to look at all of them!
Family / Genealogy Pictures:
- Cholderton:
Between Andover & Stonehenge, the home of the Noyes family
- one William Noyes, an ancestor of Lee's, was rector here in the early 1600's.
His son was a Puritan & emigrated to Massachusetts.
- Lavey,
Co. Cavan, Ireland: May be the home of Lee's g-g-grandfather,
Barnard Sharkey. This is not their church (the Sharkeys were Roman Catholic,
and this is Church of Ireland), but there may be Sharkeys buried in the cemetary.
- Weymouth:
Other g-g-g-parents, Charles Evans & Martha Scriven, were married here
in 1819, just prior to leaving to serve as missionaries in Sumatra. Martha
was a native of Weymouth, then as now a seaside resort town.
- Bristol:
This was Charles Evans home. Pictures include places associated with him and
his parents, although different buildings may occupy the addresses now. These
pictures by Lee.
- Museum
of Welsh Life, St. Fagans:
The church where Chad's g-g-grandfather, Thomas Davies, was baptised (St.
Teilo's, Llandeilo Tal-y-bont) was moved to this large outdoor museum and
is currently undergoing reconstruction (their
website has details). Also pictures of their Celtic village, to show how
our ancestors lived.
- Tredegar
House, Newport, Wales:
The Morgan ancestral home - Chad's ancestors lived here.
